Freys Boar Gullinborsti and Freyas Swine Hildisvini - Symbol of the Gods

The animal of the siblings Frey and Freya is the pig. This communality shows how close the both are and emphasizes their fruitful aspect for our Life. A kindle can have up to 15 piglets.
The boar Gullinborsti, with his golden bristles, which sparkle in darkness, stands for the potency of Frey. Freyas swine is named Hildisvini and she rides in the porcine gallop. Hildisvini personifies the ferocity of Freya. If she is without restraint in her passion, then she is impetuous and knock one of ones feet. Everyone who experienced the overwhelming
ferventness of passion knows how one feels after an encounter with Freya’s Hildisvini.
To have swine, the luck of the twins
The German saying “Schwein haben” means literally to have swine and describe a surprising luck. Frey and Freya are very generous with their gifts and let drop something unexpected in ones lap.
Piggybank
In a piggybank we can save the little luck. So can coins make a small dream come true. In the corner of the hods the piggybank has a good place. It can even be one saves for a statue of the gods.
Boar’s tooth – Ritual to the Gods’ feast Ostara
With the Boar’s teeth one can cut a furrow, to saw our plans and endeavours. We ask for the blessing of Frey, Freya and the community of the gods for our endeavours.
Give Swines as a Present
Luck for the year to come we still wish with the pigs of Frey and Freya. They come in many forms and are made out of marzipan. One can give away these to other to wish them luck and the blessing of the Gods for the New Year.
